What really goes into creating our ice cream?

At Mama Dolce, we're not just making plant-based ice cream - we're on a mission to prove that the best treats are the ones everyone can enjoy. From sourcing ingredients across the globe to working with suppliers who care as much as we do, every decision we make comes back to three things that matter most to us; inclusivity, flavour and sustainability.

Ice cream is literally the soundtrack of childhood summers, the scoop that follows birthday candles, and the treat you reach for on hot days. Whether it's a first date over gelato, a family holiday in the sun, or the ice cream van jingle, the associations are all joy!

We believe no one should miss out on these moments, no matter your dietary restrictions or food allergies. So we're here to make sure there's a scoop for everyone.

Our plant-based ice cream is free from the six major allergens, giving people with allergies the ability to experience the joy of eating the same dessert as their friends and family again. But we don't just want to create an alternative - we want to create the ultimate free-from ice cream that everyone can dig into, regardless of how they eat.

This commitment to inclusivity has been recognized by the industry. We just won the Free From Food Awards again for our Banana and Lime flavour. This marks another year that we've been recognized by the UK's only awards dedicated to allergen-free food and drink. It's proof that creating ice cream for everyone doesn't mean compromising on quality.

It’s all about that taste

Here's the thing about ice cream - it's a treat. If it doesn't taste incredible, what's the point? That's why we put flavour first and foremost in everything we create. We never compromise on taste, and our premium ingredients are proof of that commitment.

Every scoop is a tour of the globe, featuring ingredients sourced from amazing places around the world:

Ecuador gives us our rich chocolate and sweet bananas. The climate there is perfect for growing incredible cacao and tropical fruits - you can really taste the difference in the final product.

Sri Lanka is where our coconuts come from. The island's coconut groves have been there for generations, producing coconuts with naturally rich, creamy flesh that makes the perfect base for our ice cream.

Madagascar grows some of the world's best vanilla beans. The volcanic soil and tropical conditions there create vanilla with a warmth and complexity that you just can't replicate anywhere else.

Poland might surprise you, but they grow amazing strawberries. The fertile soil produces berries with that perfect sweet-tart balance that tastes incredible even when frozen.

India supplies our mangos from orchards that produce some of the most flavourful varieties you'll ever taste. The intense sunshine and monsoon rains create mangos with incredible sweetness.

The UK provides our limes and raspberries - we love supporting local growers when we can  as it reduces the journey our ingredients need to make.

Each ingredient is chosen for one reason: exceptional flavour. We pride ourselves on being free-from but we never want to be the ice cream you have to eat, only the ice cream you want to eat. We lead with taste and let the flavours speak for themselves.

When farmers are fairly compensated and able to invest in sustainable practices, they can focus on producing the exceptional ingredients that make our ice cream special.
